Headliner: Jean Paul

Trinidadian-born, Brooklyn-raised, and now Toronto-based, Jean Paul is a comedian with an innate sense of humour and an infectious personality. With a curious nature and a light-hearted view of life, Jean Paul realized early on that he was destined for a career in comedy.

Jean Paul has traveled extensively, performing in Canada, the U.S., the Caribbean,  South Africa, and the U.K., gracing legendary stages such as the Apollo in New York, the Comedy Store in London, and Place des Arts in Montreal. He has also made a significant impact on the festival circuit, showcasing his talents at Just For Laughs, Halifax, and Winnipeg comedy festivals. Among other credits has written for and toured with Russell Peters.

His accolades include nominations for the Tim Sims Award and a Gemini Award for Best Writing in a Comedy Series. On television, Jean Paul has been a correspondent on Phat TV, portrayed a variety of characters in the CBC special Thick and Thin, and made numerous appearances on the CBC’s Strombo Show and CTV’s A Russell Peters Christmas Special. He is also known for his role as Fluff E the Hip-Hop  Bunny on the Comedy Network’s Buzz Show and his performances in Home Again and A Universal Language.

Daryl Jung of NOW Magazine, Toronto, described Jean Paul as having "savage wit and spontaneous combustion combine into an explosive comedic barrage. This cat is fearless. In terms of any act, he works without a net. He is so  freewheeling, it's almost psychedelic."

The night’s master of ceremonies, Freddy Proia, is a seasoned professional whose love for performing shines through every time he steps on stage.  Freddy’s high-energy performances and array of celebrity impressions have made him a favorite among audiences across North America. Drawing humour from his life experiences and Italian heritage, Freddy’s act is both relatable and hilarious.

Freddy has performed in prestigious theaters throughout North America, including The Markham Theatre, The Sony Centre, The Toronto Centre for the Performing Arts, and many more.  He is known for his corporate-friendly stand-up comedy, engaging audiences with quick wit and clean humour. Freddy’s impressive list of corporate clients includes Hewlett Packard, Imperial Oil, Tim Horton's, and many others.

Freddy’s ability to genuinely have fun on stage is contagious, ensuring that the audience remains captivated and entertained long after the show has ended.
