The Bunker Performance Lounge & Café is kicking off the Spring Songwriter Series with a special Friday Night Sessions on March 28 at 8 PM. This three-part series shines a spotlight on original music, featuring three talented songwriters who will take turns sharing their songs and stories in an intimate showcase performance.

For the first installment, we’re bringing together Kaleb Hikele, Laika Berdey, and Travis Beatty—each with their own distinct style and approach to songwriting.

🎶 Kaleb Hikele – A prolific Canadian folk-rock artist, Kaleb is best known for his work as The Sun Harmonic. With over a decade of music-making and 12 indie studio albums under his belt, his latest release, My Mind Is Like a Radio, was written and recorded in a single spring season. The album’s retro-inspired production and song-a-day approach give it a raw and immersive quality. Kaleb has toured extensively, opening for artists like Devan (Wild Rivers), Julian Taylor, and Royal Wood, and his music has been featured on Netflix, SiriusXM, CBC Radio, and more. Recognized by Canada’s Walk of Fame and Record Store Day, he was recently awarded the 2024 Forest City London Music Award for Ontario Independent Recording Artist.

🎸 Laika Berdey – A songwriter with a knack for blending emo rock, pop punk, and indie folk, Laika’s music invites listeners into a world of soaring melodies and honest lyricism. With her leaf-green guitar and unfiltered storytelling, she explores themes of connection, heartache, and fleeting moments in the digital age. Her background as a chorister, librarian, and lifeguard seeps into her songwriting, where words and water intertwine in poetic reflection.

🎵 Travis Beatty – Bringing a mix of grunge-inspired grit and indie folk sweetness, Travis captivates audiences with his ukulele playing and dynamic vocals. Whether delivering powerful chords or delicate fingerstyle arrangements, his performances create a warm, inviting atmosphere. A familiar presence in the London, Ontario music scene, his mix of originals and reimagined covers transforms any space into an intimate listening experience.
