Join us at The Bunker Performance Lounge & Cafe for the second night of our Spring Songwriter Series, a three-part showcase celebrating original music and storytelling. Each event features three emerging songwriters sharing the stage, taking turns performing their original work in an intimate, round-style format.
On Friday, April 25th, we welcome a fresh mix of voices and styles with performances by Makinna Givens, Lauren Neilson, and Amanda Braam.
Makinna Givens brings a raw honesty to her music, drawing from personal stories and lived experiences. With a sound that leans into both Country and Pop, her songs carry emotional weight with touches of grit and power. A graduate of Fanshawe College's music industry arts program and a 2024 Folk Music Ontario showcase artist, Makinna recently released her debut single "If We Meet Again".
Lauren Neilson, a Stratford native, has been surrounded by music from a young age. Having trained under Dayna Manning and now studying Community Music at Wilfrid Laurier University, Lauren blends heartfelt songwriting with a thoughtful stage presence. Whether performing covers or her own songs, she’s quickly making her mark in the local music scene while teaching the next generation of musicians.
Amanda Braam is a versatile musician from Kitchener, Ontario. As the lead of indie dream-pop group Amanda & The Paper Cranes, a collaborator in several other genre-spanning projects, and an award-winning songwriter, Amanda brings a depth of musical experience to the stage. Her recent releases include the full-length album Paper Cranes and the single Deep Sea Corals. She also works with the Lullaby Project, helping mothers create music for their children.
Come enjoy an evening of original songs, shared stories, and local talent. Doors open at 6 PM. Music starts at 8.
